Southeast Texas Practical Shooters Club By Laws

 

Club Mission

The mission of the Southeast Texas Practical  Shooters Club shall be to promote and encourage:

The safe handling of all firearms as per the rules of the United States Practical Shooters Association/IPSC.

To hold competition to promote fun and sportsmanship.

 

Article I

Membership Requirements:

A person must be able to legally own and/or handle a firearm according to the laws of the United States Of America.

          NRA and USPSA memberships are encouraged, but not required.

 

Article II

Club Officers

          The club officers shall consist of:

One President, one Vice President, one Treasurer,and one Secretary.

The officers shall be elected annually at the first quarterly club meeting and shall assume office the first day of the following month.

 

Club Officers Duties

          President:

Shall oversee all functions of the club.

Chair the quarterly meetings.

Oversee the expenditures of the club monies.

 

          Vice President:

Shall be in a position to assume the Presidents duties if for any reason the President is not available.

Assist and advise the President in his duties.

 

Treasurer:

Shall be responsible for the deposit of club monies and the payment of all club bills.

Assist the President and Vice President in the performance of their duties.

 

Secretary:

Shall be responsible for the recording of all club meeting minutes.

Assist the other officers in their duties.

 

Article III

Club Dues

The annual dues of the Southeast Texas Practical Shooters Club shall be Twenty Dollars ($20.00) to be due by May 31 of each year and continuing until the following May 31

A member must be a paid up member of the club to vote at meetings or have any voice in any club functions.

Honorary and/or Lifetime members are exempt from annual dues. This must be voted on at a club meeting.

 

Article IV

Match Fees

For regular club matches shall be Ten Dollars ($10.00) which is subject to change by a majority vote of club members at the quarterly club meetings.

Exceptions shall be National Qualifier Matches and Special Classifier Matches that are held on regular match days, the match fee will be announced one week before the event at other club matches or via email.

Elected Officers shoot free at regular club matches only.

Club Championship Match fees shall be Twenty Dollars ($20.00) for club members in good standing and Forty Dollars ($40.00) for non club members.

Non-members will become members of SETPS with the payment of Club Championship Match fee.

 

 

 

Article V

Committees for Special Projects

          Shall be formed at club quarterly meetings by vote.

          Officers will be involved on all committees.

 

Article VI
Meetings

Should be held on a Quarterly basis, with a mandatory annual meeting.

          Meetings held in Texas and in Louisiana to be alternating.

 

Article VII

Club Championship:

          Held annually to promote membership

A committee shall be formed to determine the theme and to coordinate the match.

 

Article VIII

Clothing

          As per rules of USPSA

 

Article IX

Stage Designs

All stages must be approved by Match Director before the match begins.

Match Director can be determined at the time of match and announced at the shooter’s meeting.


 

Article X
Removal of Persons

An officer can recommend the expulsion of a member for gross misconduct.

Removal from the club must be decided by a vote of 2/3 majority at a club meeting

A person, club member or non-club member, can be removed for reasons of poor conduct from the match on that particular match day by the Match Director.

Article XI

Club Spending

The board has the authority to spend up to $300 for expenditures without a vote of the club members.

          Consumable items can be purchased at the approval of board members.

 

Article XII

By Law Revisions

The 1st quarterly meeting of the year will be the only meeting in which it would be considered to revise the By-Laws.
